A reflection on our win at the Bristol Property Awards

Culture is the key to our success

We put people first at Calibro.

It may sound obvious, but for a business to flourish, it needs to be done properly. Based on our core principles, we’ve successfully grown a collaborative, team-based culture of shared success that our people enjoy, where they are recognised for their contribution and achievements.

It’s this approach that helped us to win recognition for Calibro as ‘Employer of the Year’ at the Bristol Property Awards 2021.

It’s nice to win an award of course, and we’re proud of that. But nothing is more important than the contribution made by our colleagues and consultancy team as a whole. Every day they bring their energy, infectious enthusiasm, and unwavering commitment to our projects, going further for clients to get their development projects over the line.

Different from the start

When Calibro was founded, it was always the aim to create a genuinely different type of consultancy in a crowded marketplace. Of course, profit is important for any business – but it’s not our primary motivation at Calibro. This gives us the freedom to collaborate internally, bring new skills on board and build a rewarding environment for our team to develop as trusted professionals.

We empower our team by always ensuring they have the necessary tools and support to develop their skills and make decisions with confidence, while knowing that the experience of our senior management team is there whenever it’s needed.

Honing the direction of our business

After four successful years – and using the pandemic as an opportunity to refocus – we decided it was time to build on our achievements and take a fresh look at the aspirations of our business. So, we commissioned external experts to work with our senior management team on developing a new business plan.

The plan quickly became the driving force behind our new brand, introducing new talent to our consultancy to help us move towards an exciting future and deliver even more for our varied client base.

 

Reinvesting and giving back

There’s no resting on our laurels (far from it). We continue to invest in our people and our working environment in the heart of Bristol. All our people benefit from training and mentoring from our senior experts; plus a range of benefits that reflect the commitment to our employees and their wellbeing, including access to private healthcare. We also offer a great space to work and relax in, with a breakout area that features a football table, TV and games console, along with a constant supply of fresh fruit!

Additionally, we’ve set up a ‘Community & Charity’ policy that means our people can now take additional paid leave to support local good causes. Plus, are developing a new Wellbeing policy with input from our staff, together with an Environmental policy that will focus on reducing energy and supporting local suppliers.

We’re proud of the positive, sociable and supportive culture we have at Calibro, and understandably delighted for this to be recognised outside of the business at the renowned Bristol Property Awards. But, above all, we want Calibro to continue to be a destination consultancy where people can develop their skills, thrive, build a career and simply love to work.
