Calibro Helps to Secure Planning Permission for 7-Hectare Strategic Employment Site in Alton, Hampshire

We were very pleased to hear news that resolution to grant planning permission was given recently for a 7-hectare strategic employment site at Lynch Hill, Alton, Hampshire.

Stuart Choak (Director of Transport) and Richard Woods have been actively supporting this project since it was first promoted at the Call for Sites stage of the East Hants District Local Plan in 2014, helping to establish the site’s accessibility credentials using our bespoke accessibility planning techniques, and setting the direction for the future access strategy. A comprehensive Transport Assessment and Travel Plan were prepared to support a subsequent planning application and were able to overturn initial opposition to achieve a positive consultation response from the Local Highway Authority.

On the back of this success, the Site is being promoted for the potential of further strategic development in the latest East Hants District Council Local Plan.

Speaking of the success, Stuart Choak (Managing Director & Director of Transport) said:-

“We were fortunate that this exciting project came with us when we founded the business in 2017 and it was therefore even more crucial that we were able to achieve a successful outcome on this project. Despite initial opposition from the Local Highway Authority, we were able to provide comprehensive evidence that validated the access strategy and overcame all of the issues raised by the Authority.

It was a hard-won result and the recent news of the resolution to grant planning permission, has made it all worthwhile.

I must also say that it was also a pleasure to support the wider development team, including the Southampton Planning and Masterplanning teams of Savills.”
