A career with Calibro

Principal / Associate Transport Consultant

Hopefully you like what you’ve seen about our culture and the way we approach our work with excitement and enthusiasm. If you’re missing this in your current place of employment and want to deliver work you can be proud of, we’d love to talk to you as we have a great opportunity to join our successful Transport Planning team in our Bristol or Southampton offices.

Headed up by Richard Woods, the team is definitely ‘punching above its weight’; they’re working with almost all PLC housebuilders in the country, with several strategic-level projects comprising over 1,000 dwellings and typical projects being in the 200-600 unit range.

However, the team is proud to have a blend of projects that ensures we are not only able to mentor more junior colleagues and provide them with much needed experience in project management, but that we maintain our ability to find solutions through our analytical approaches which can often avoid potentially costly mitigation.

Our team has done an amazing job of servicing our existing and new clients, and their successes mean we are now looking for two new amazing individuals to help us take that next step.

What you’ll need to succeed

We’re looking for the best. Our mission and our vision for what we want the business to stand for, means that really want to speak to you if you are either already at the top of your game or want to get there.

In this respect, you can’t teach ‘personality’. It’s king in our business. We want you to be a confident and self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills. We want you to have a natural inquisitiveness about data and the world around us, and how people behave and interact with the places we help to design. These are the core attributes of designing better and being able to constantly innovate.

We’d love you to have a HNC or degree in Transport Planning, Geography, or Mathematics but it’s not essential, as long as you have industry experience and are aligned to our culture. And whilst it would be great if you were already a Chartered Transport Planning Professional (CTTP), we’ll  provide all the support and encouragement you might need to achieve this if you aren’t.

We are a business that is proud of our technical capabilities. We would therefore want you to be experienced in supporting and mentoring a wider team in the analysis of transport impacts, including the identification of suitable trip generation rates using approaches (TRICS vs Vision-Led strategies for example), and have an understanding of different distribution and assignment techniques.  We would also like you to have a deep understanding of  ARCADY, PICADY and LINSIG whilst you should also be familiar with the basic concepts of micro-simulation (Vissim) such that you can identify when and where it is important to deploy this approach, and manage the process.

You are also likely to have some experience in basic junction design (or understanding of the basic elements of the desgin process) and already be client facing.

What you’ll get in return

Take a look around our culture page to understand the value we place on our people and how we help them to achieve their full potential with clear, structured mentoring, investment and feedback – its an approach founded on the principles of ‘partnership’.

It goes without saying that we always ensure we offer our people a competitive salary – not just to attract you to the business but also to recognise your on-going contribution and capabilities.

We also provide a great pension scheme, a discretionary twice yearly bonus , and various perks and wellbeing initiatives to ensure you are properly looked after during your time with us. Take a look at our ‘22 for You‘ scheme which we are particularly proud of.
