A career with Calibro

Principal Infrastructure Engineer

Hopefully you like what you’ve seen about our culture and the way we approach our work with excitement and enthusiasm. If you’re missing this in your current place of employment and want to deliver work you can be proud of, we’d love to talk to you as we have a great opportunity to take a lead role in the on-going development and management of our Infrastructure & Drainage team in our Bristol office.

Headed up by Will Whiting, the team features a particularly commercial outlook on their work. With Will’s experience of working as Engineering Manager for some of the most prestigious and ambitious PLC housebuilders in the country, he is building a team that is recognised as designing-in value from the very outset.

This means being proactive in working with other disciplines – both in house and external partners – and anticipating the likely hurdles to securing timely and cost-effective solutions that help to get our clients’ projects over the line, quickly.

What you’ll need to succeed

We’re looking for the best. Our mission and our vision for what we want the business to stand for, means that really want to speak to you if you are either already at the top of your game or want to get there.

In this respect, we’d love you to have a HNC or degree in Civil Engineering but its not essential, as long as you have appropriate industry experience. Whilst it would also be fantastic if you were to be a Chartered Engineer, we will provide all the support required to help you achieve this.

You should have a positive and practical approach to engineering, and provide technical leadership that, together with other member of the team, will enable you to mentor and develop the careers of more junior members of staff.

You should be experienced in taking a lead role in small-to-medium-sized infrastructure projects, including  SuDS  attention/infiltration design using either PDS or Civil 3D software and MicroDrainage – and be able to produce drainage and highway layouts, with an excellent understanding of Section 38/278/104 & 185 approvals.

The role will include undertaking feasibility and pre-planning assessments/appraisals; preparing, managing and reviewing reports, designs and drawings to to ensure consistently high quality outputs; support the preparation of fee proposals and manage budgets accordingly; and act as a key contact for clients.

Above all else, personality is king in our business. We want you to be a confident and self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

What you’ll get in return

This is not only a great opportunity to work hand-in-hand with the Head of Infrastructure and the rest of the team on exciting and high quality infrastructure projects, but one where you will have a real opportunity to help influence the shape and character of the team’s expansion over the coming years.

Take a look around our culture page to understand the value we place on our people and how we help them to achieve their full potential with clear, structured mentoring, investment and feedback – its an approach founded on the principles of ‘partnership’.

It goes without saying that we always ensure we offer our people a competitive salary – not just to attract you to the business but also to recognise your on-going contribution and capabilities.

WWe also provide a great pension scheme, a discretionary twice yearly bonus , and various perks and wellbeing initiatives to ensure you are properly looked after during your time with us. Take a look at our ‘22 for You‘ scheme which we are particularly proud of.
